Ever since releasing her official debut EP Closure in 2018, Montana DeVane has been pursuing a musical career that has exquisite melodies and intoxicating vocals at its very heart. Her journey to become the singer songwriter, rapper and producer she is today has been long, and that history of change and evolution has established her reputation as an artist that crafts extraordinary music.
Born in North Carolina and migrating to Atlanta before settling in Las Vegas, her nomadic existence is reflected in her fusion of Hip-Hop, RnB, Soul, Reggae and Afrobeat. Influenced in part by Smokie Robinson, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, MC Lyte, Missy Elliot, Coldplay, Bob Marley and Burna Boy, she has molded a sound to become an artist refusing to be bound by others’ expectations.
Describing herself as versatile, profound, and revolutionary, she represents that strong breed of women who is breaking new ground as her dreams unfold around her. That vision really took hold in 2020 as she collaborated with Nigeria’s Ransom Beatz, featured on a number of tracks with Cameron London, and culminated in her sublimely beautiful EP Black Sunflower.
2021 is set to continue that trend of releasing music that touches the heart and lifts the soul in a spirit unbroken by life’s challenges. With her latest tracks ‘Stay Alive’, ‘In Mi Blood’ and ‘Dangerzone’, Montana is exploring more controversial themes but with the vibrant upbeat vibe that is undeniably infectious and addictive.
As we roam endlessly in the search for new artists to bring pleasure to our lives, it is Montana DeVane who is embracing the future with a body of work that we can all enjoy. With an upcoming EP and countless singles ready to drop, her story is still yet to be written, but what a story it will be once told.
